
Robert Vargas is a sixth-generation Los Angeles native from Boyle Heights, of Mexican and Native American descent, known for large-scale freehand murals and mixed-media portrait work. His major works include "Angelus," a 14-story mural near Pershing Square, and "LA Rising," a 150-foot Shohei Ohtani mural in Little Tokyo. In January 2026, LA County proclaimed "Robert Vargas Day."
